Training on the high seas

When you think about on-site classes, trainers think about having a captive audience with undivided attention from the students. At least while class is in session.

Bringing a training seminar to your shop normally entails reserving space for the class, moving the equipment into the room and making hotel reservations for the trainer. That leaves the trainer with the task of making travel arrangements, and hoping that your lodging preferences meet minimum acceptable limits.

US NavyBut DiagnoSYS trainer Rob Profeta recently experienced a couple of unique on-site training sessions, aboard 2 aircraft carriers in the Pacific. Rob was lucky on one training mission; he departed from Hawaii and toured the Pacific. The other left from San Diego and went north, to the Gulf of Alaska. Both trips provided the experience of a lifetime for Rob.

The US Navy's commitment to training their technicians underscores the importance of knowing how to use your tools.

DiagnoSYS offers monthly training classes to keep your knowledge up to date. Here's the schedule for the next six months:

  • February 14-18
  • March 7-11
  • April 11-15
  • May 16-20
  • June 13-17
  • July 11-15

Class size is limited. E-mail us today to request a spot in the class.

Calibration Services
If you've heard it once . . .

The chances are you've heard it many times in the past. Calibration is the key to maintaining control of your test environment. Annual calibrations are like our annual visit to the Doctor. We know we need it, we just never seem to have time for it.

According to the NIST, calibrations of precision instruments allow for the highest possible levels of measurement quality and productivity. DiagnoSYS Analog Card Calibration Service is traceable to NIST Standards.

Now's a great time to schedule your annual calibration with our Analog Card Calibration Service.

Now there's a way to ensure that your analog measurements are within tolerance. DiagnoSYS is introducing a calibration service for all PinPoint I and PinPoint II analog cards.

Calibrations are finished within 2-3 days from the time your system arrives at our office. Need faster service? Contact us with your turn-around time requirements today

PinPoint I Users
Are you ready?

  • Over 65% more pins for in-circuit test
  • Over 850% more pins for reverse engineering
  • Edge card testing capabilities
  • Integrated Oscilloscope
  • Multiple arbitrary wave form generators
  • Increased analog test coverage for a wider range of boards
  • Auxiliary driver channels for dual level drive capability
  • Capability to integrate PXI equipment on board
  • Current limiting and monitoring for the UUT power supply

Then you're ready to upgrade to the PinPoint II!

After reaching the physical limits of the PinPoint I, we took the opportunity to design the next generation of the functional tester using the strengths built into the PinPoint I. A key concern was to ensure program transferability and a smooth upgrade path for our customers.

PinPoint II Functional Test System from DiagnoSYS Systems

The result is the PinPoint II, field proven for over 4 years in commercial, avionics and military applications. We will continue to support the hardware for the PinPoint I, but will no longer be releasing any new software upgrades for this model.

We're offering a special limited time trade-in deal. Contact us today for more details.

Spotlight
Featured Partner: Electronic Assembly Products, Ltd

Editor’s note: The Spotlight On section of our newsletter will focus on one of our distribution partner, direct staff or an end user of DiagnoSYS products and services. This issue features one of our manufacturers’ representatives.

DiagnoSYS Partner - Electronic Assembly Products

This issue's spotlight is on Electronic Assembly Products, Ltd, (EAP), Dayton, OH, and its founder, John Johnson. EAP has represented DiagnoSYS Systems in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia since January of 2002.

John has a long history in the electronics industry, starting out in the distribution side of the business - just like a number of his colleagues. But he started his sales life in a completely different industry. It's hard to imagine that at the ripe young age of 19, John sold real estate! Like most young agents, he found it a daunting task to get home buyers of another generation to take him seriously. So, he entered our industry through a position with Pioneer Standard Electronics and a short time later joined Marshall Industries as a sales rep.

At Marshall, John learned how to work with the manufacturing floor staff to meet the process challenges they faced every day. When a position opened at one of the top rep firms in the Midwest, REStronics, John made the change from distribution to manufacturers' rep.

It was just a matter of time before John hung his own 'shingle' as an independent rep because his ultimate goal all along was to be on his own. Electronic Assembly Products is the result of that goal.

Since its inception, EAP has grown to include Autumn Johnson (John's wife and now business partner). The company expanded again in 2004 with the addition of Kevin Moses, a long time friend and associate of the Johnson's.

Autumn brings her experience in sales and distribution from MCM Electronics and Future Active and Marshal Industries. She most recently was a Regional Manager with Chemtronics, covering a five-state territory.

Kevin's background includes Account Management experience at Marshall, Avnet EM and Avnet PSAT. Before joining EAP, Kevin was the Eastern Regional Sales Manager for Contact East.

EAP differentiates itself from other rep firms by approaching every customer as a partner in solving their process challenges. This consultative style of selling is common among top reps in many industries. By finding the right solution to a challenge, EAP maintains a core confidence level among its customers, enabling it to act as a trusted extension of the internal resources needed to succeed.

As John puts it, "If you do all the things that your Mother taught you and treat people right, it's easy to be successful and respected."

On a more personal note John and Autumn have a 14-year-old son, who keeps them on their toes - as if the rep business lets them rest at all!
