A New Standard for Testing
S790 Series 2 Extends Test Protocols

This year's APEX brought the introduction of the S790 Series 2 to North America. A new version of the S790 from Schlumberger, the S790 Series 2 adds a number of new features to the graphic-based test capabilities of one of the most advanced ATE systems on the market.

S790 Series 2Test programs and fixtures from all S700 Series, S790 and S790VXI test systems can be re-used, providing an initial jumpstart for all new S790 Series 2 users

We've Moved!
('I gotta fit all my stuff into how many boxes??!!')

DiagnoSYS ran into a space dilemma last year as the continued growth of customers and employees rapidly filled the available floor space needs. After branching out into satellite storage locations, it was time to consolidate everything under the same roof.

The Park Place staff and offices were moved into the new facility in late January with a minimum of headaches. Moving the staff, desks, inventory, labs, telephones and internet access was completed shortly after the end of the month - just in time for APEX and the March PinPoint II Users Group/CCTARS meetings

Some of the new additions provided by our expanded space include a self contained training facility, new ESD lab and the deployment of a CCR system. We've also expanded our test services development lab.

Our new telephone system now includes a direct dial feature that allows you to contact any member of our staff reducing the need to transfer calls from a central operator.

An official announcement of the new facility is in the works, so stand by for pictures and more on the new space.

Annual Event a Hit
Pinpoint II Users Group returns to Kissimmee

The Second Annual PinPoint II Users Group meeting was held over the Ides of March this year, and even Julius Caesar would have enjoyed it. Starting with an optional round of golf, the two-day meeting covered significant ground, starting with a corporate road map presented by David Tiplin, CEO DiagnoSYS Systems Ltd. The balance of Day One included the introduction to a members-only online discussion board, product enhancements, capabilities and a guided probe testing discussion.

Day Two was just as packed with information. Presentations included reviews of actual test projects and advanced techniques for using the PinPoint II system in real-life applications. The meeting wrapped up with an open forum for comments and recommendations from attendees.

If you're not already involved in the PinPoint II Users Group, contact Tom Popolo for membership information.

PinPoint II Functional Test System from DiagnoSYS Systems

What Do You Think?

As part of this year's PinPoint II Users Group meeting, Tim Webb presented a 'Concept for Automated Schematic Generation.' The concept proposes using a combination of the Reverse Engineering technique of the TestVue 32 software coupled with the automation of a multi-probe AutoPoint II Flying-Probe System.

The benefits from automated Schematic Generation include a faster turn around to completed schematics and more accurate results. Both benefits help reduce cost and provide for an accelerated deployment of repaired and validated product to the field. Help us help you work smarter! Send us your comments and suggestions of what you need in an automated schematic generation solution today. Email Tim today with your comments!

How current are your skills?
Factory Training Keeps You Up to Speed

One of the key ingredients to a successful test strategy is ensuring operators are properly trained. Keeping current on tester operations is an investment in your staff. When turnover occurs, new operators require the same dedication to education as when the tester was first introduced to your facility. DiagnoSYS helps you maintain that commitment with regularly scheduled training

Each month brings a new opportunity to learn the best practices for using your DiagnoSYS equipment. Now is your chance to learn from the pros!

Standard training classes are held monthly in Kissimmee — where the sun (almost) always shines! Here's the schedule for the next six months:

  • July 11-15
  • August 15-19
  • September 12-16
  • October 10-14
  • November 14-18
  • December 5-9

Class size is limited. Contact us today to request a spot in the class.

Factory Training Keeps You Up to Speed

We hold small advanced training classes throughout the year with 4-6 students at a time. Space is available in our Fall class by request only. Contact Rob Profeta today for more details.

Spotlight
Featured Partner: Northeast Marketing ASsociates

Editor’s note: The Spotlight On section of our newsletter will focus on one of our distribution partner, direct staff or an end user of DiagnoSYS products and services. This issue features one of our manufacturers’ representatives.

DiagnoSYS Partner - Northeast Marketing Associates This issue's spotlight is on Northeast Marketing Associates (NMA), Westford, MA and General Manager Chuck Freihofer. NMA recently joined DiagnoSYS Systems to promote the PinPoint, Conformal Coating Remover, XJTAG and S500 Functional Test Solution products in New England. The company excels in helping its customers find the right solution for each of their test needs.

NMA is part of Creative Marketing Associates Ltd., Columbia, MD, 30-year veterans of the electronics industry, specializing in a wide variety of products for the test market. NMA joined the group in 1994 as part of its East Coast Network.

Chuck had spent more than 13 years as head of his own engineering design service company when friends in the rep business convinced him NMA would be a good opportunity. CMA Owner Billy Mitchell had a vision to blanket the East Coast, and he saw Chuck's previous experience at Micronetics as a big plus. Chuck built and managed his own rep network in the US, Europe and Asia, giving DiagnoSYS customers a different perspective than many other reps.

Running a global organization gave Chuck a deeper appreciation for the day-to-day challenges reps faced from a principle's view. NMA provided an opportunity to get involved on the distribution channel side.

According to Chuck, "DiagnoSYS is a good fit with the people we work with everyday," making it easier to help his customers find the best solution.

Like many reps in our industry, Chuck faces the challenge of maximizing his time each week. Finding the right balance means knowing his customers' most pressing needs. That, in turn, requires Chuck and his staff to have an in_depth knowledge of the products NMA represents and where they fit customers' buying cycles and market trends. For military customers, the staff must know their fiscal year and funding cycle.

With his experience managing a rep organization, Chuck wants to help his principles understand what's going on in his territory. This helps them design and build products NMA can use to solve customer challenges in their backyard.

Chuck loves the independence of the rep business along with the relationships he's forged with the principles NMA's represents.

On a more personal note, Chuck has been married to Teresa for 26 years. They have two children, Charles age 25 and Victoria 21. Chuck and Teresa are real empty nesters now that Victoria graduated Clemson this year with an economics degree, so finding a new time and balance will be their next challenge together.
